Kaokoland - Namibia

As Africa becomes increasingly civilised and exploited it is refreshing to learn that there are still remote unspoiled regions which remain untouched by the interference of Man, and Kaokoland in the North West of Namibia is just such a place.

The traditional ancestoral home of the Himba People, Kaokoland has been designated as a Communial Conservancy protected by Namibia's Dept of Environment and Tourism and we are delighted to be the sole booking Agents for Traditional Tented Safaris to this most magical part of Africa.

Our partners in Kaokoland, Conservancy Hunting Safaris, is managed by Russell Vinjevold and Tommy Hall, both of whom have operated within Namibia's Dept of Environment and Tourism as Conservation Officers with Tommy also being a Director of Namibia's Professional Hunters Association, NAPHA, He is also the man that takes the practical PH examination for Namibia's apprentice Professional Hunters and is widely considered to be one of Namibia's most experienced Guides so who better to conduct your exploration of this fabulous Country!

Our Hunting Grounds extend south from the Kunene River which forms Namibias boarder with Angola and encompasses the Hartmann Mountains where the Zebra of the same name originates from and boasts a combination of lowland Savannah and rugged Koppies which provides a wide variety of indigenous local species for the discerning trophy hunter. During our time in Kaokoland we have stalked Zebra, Springbok and Gemsbok with some of the best examples of Kudu also showing themselves during our visits. In addition, species such as Klipspringer, Duiker, Red Hartebeest, Ostrich and Giraffe are available plus we have lion, leopard, cheetah, crocodile, hippo and elephant in the region available on a strict quota basis.

when you consider that our Kaokoland territory is approx 285 miles x 90 miles wide and completely unfenced then this is significantly larger than most Europeans will have ever hunted over before and since numbers are strictly controlled, yours will be a pure hunting experience in a region comparable in size to being alone in an area similar in size to South Wales!

We are restricted in terms of visitor numbers to this area to reduce the impact on the local flora and fauna so numbers are strictly limited with the maximum size of a hunting party being 4 guns and since nothing can be left behind in the region, everything required for your visit must be taken in and removed again after your visit which provides for a unique hunting experience.

Typical packages to Kaokoland provide for 7 days of hunting with an additional day either end for airport transfers and we recommend a rest day in the Etosha Region before your visit commences which helps to aclimatise to the regions heat and altitude (and helps to get your eye in too!) although we are delighted to arrange bespoke packages on request.

For further information on Traditional Tented Safaris to Kaokoland or for a quotation without obligation, please feel free to contact us, thank you.
