We are delighted to add Abborrtrask to our Swedish Portfolio where we invite you to experience the delights of ‘Top Hunting’ for Capercaillie and Grouse during the Arctic Winter as well as enjoy a myriad of first rate fishing opportunities throughout the year too.

Top Hunting is an extreme hunt during what can be inhospitable weather conditions and as such requires a decent level of personal fitness and some specialist equipment too. Hunting is conducted on Skis although no prior experience is required for this since this is a stealthy stalk and speed is not a factor. White winter camouflage is required and we strongly recommend Merino wool base layers and socks together with appropriate footwear and gloves too – this is not the environment to take chances in after all!

Top Hunting is conducted during the winter months from November to March and can be combined with Ice Fishing and possibly some predator hunting too. Foxes and Martens are a problem for hunters and birds alike and if you would like to combine that with your Bird Hunt then this is also possible.

Fishing also takes place throughout the year and species including Pike, Perch, Grayling, Arctic Char and Salmon may be taken. Fishing does have specific seasons and permits may be required for some species and ‘catch and release’ is practised for all.

In terms of cost, hunting and fishing in Abborrtrask is modestly priced because of the level of accommodation provided. That said it is warm, comfortable and traditional meals are warm tasty and just what the Doctor ordered after a hard day’s sport, although if you would welcome the opportunity to experience something truly unique, perhaps an overnight stay in the Iglootel or Ice Hotel would be more to your fancy, either that or within a traditional Sami tent, or Lavvu? This is your adventure and further activities such as Dog-sledding may also be available, subject to season.

Please feel free to contact us for advice regarding hunting and fishing in this fabulous wilderness location.
