Traditional Spanish Monteria

The Monteria is a traditional Spanish driven hunt for Big Game species including Red Deer, Fallow, Mouflon Sheep and Wild Boar and involves teams of guns being positioned across the Mountains and valleys using the fire break essential in such an arid region. The area selected will vary depending on the number of guns in the team when smaller drives for teams of 10-12 are possible although larger drives can consist of up to 40 hunters.

Beaters employ approximately 250 dogs to drive the game and guests can expect to shoot Red Stags and Hinds, Fallow, Mouflon Sheep and the occasional Roe Deer plus of course Wild Boar which are plentiful in this area due to their love of the sweet and highly nutritious Encna Acorns Chestnuts and similar that are found here.

Monteria Packages for 2011 provide for 1 x Representative Red Stag plus a couple of Hinds or Ewes depending on what comes your way plus unlimited Wild Boar. You can typically expect 2 such drives per day during which time maybe 20 pigs can be expected although with all hunting, no guarantees can be made with regard to volumes in open areas.

Driven Red Stag Hunt in Spain Monteria

The reason the package specifies a ‘Representative’ Stag is because in such a hunt, cherry picking for medal quality specimens is not an option since the Monteria is the local and traditional method for animal management, as such you will be expected to take the shots that present themselves although additional stags bucks rams hinds and ewes can be taken at competitive fixed rates per species.

Wild Boar Hunting in Spain at El Castanar with The Hunting Agency

Canada and the UK and we will have Boar Hunting in Siberia available soon too although regional variations do apply. In Spain the driven hunts are called "Monteria" and include Mouflon Fallow and Red Deer as well as unlimited Boar while in Argentina the pigs are driven by dogs accompanied by a Gaucho on horseback and you hunt quickly on foot across marshlands during the dry season.

Argentina

Since many hunters take great delight in wild pig shooting we are delighted to offer something very special when it comes to Wild Boar and Feral Hog hunting in Argentina’s Entre Rios and Buenos Aires Provinces

Wild Boar taken in Buenos Aires Argentina

By way of comparison, first consider the more familiar sport available in Eastern Europe and Eurasia where generally either Boar are hunted before beaters with dogs driving the game towards the barrage of guns, or else hunters sit and lurk for game in high seats or raised blinds under moonlight for their choice of trophy or non-trophy pigs. As an alternative, in Argentina you will have access to extended areas of lowland wetlands situated over an area of one million hectares which during the Argentinean winter tend to dry out allowing the opportunity to walk and stalk unfenced free-range moorlands and marshes. These are home to some spectacular examples of Wild Boar.

Hunt Wild Boar with Gauchos in Argentina

Forget about high volume driven hunts in fenced areas as this location offers so many opportunities that you simply will not believe your eyes!

Boar Hunt with Gauchos in Argentina

The way it works is unusual in Argentina since ‘Gauchos’ on horseback with dogs work ahead of the hunters locating and identifying the game. The volume is so plentiful that there is barely enough time to sit and pose for your ‘photo before the next beast is spotted at which time you must quickly make your way in order to deal with the next pig before moving on quickly to the next.

Huge trophy Boar and Feral Hogs available in Argentina

Hunters interested in this style of hunting will be well advised to ensure their personal fitness and mobility is appropriate for the rigours of such an adventure so if you are more comfortable with a passive hunting experience standing stationary waiting for pigs to be driven towards you or feel that you no longer have the stamina or appetite for hunting hard on foot then this really isn’t for you. However, if you are looking for a unique hunting experience over vast un-fenced wetlands where huge volumes of Wild Boar and Feral hogs can be taken then you will love it!

High Volume Gaucho hunts for wild baor available in Argentina via The Hunting Agency

High volume Gaucho hunts can be combined with either Dove and Duck hunts and / or Big Game hunts for Axis Deer, Black Buck and Capybara – in short, this is your adventure and we will be delighted to accommodate your hunting requirements to your personal specification on a bespoke basis so please feel free to ask for further details

Tuscany, Italy - Wild Boar, Mouflon and Fallow Cull

Tenuta San Michele Tuscany Italy

Tenuta San Michele, or the St Michaels Estate as we would know it in English is a nugget of pure Tuscany offering Trophy and Management Hunting where species such as Mouflon, Fallow Deer and Wild Boar are available.

Tuscany hunting landscape

The Estate is situated some 30 miles from Pisa which is easily reached via a number of Air Carriers including Easy jet and British Airways but check for restrictions and additional charges for hold luggage before you book!

The Estate had long been a popular Hunting location in Italy until a change of ownership some five years ago saw this postponed until renovation work was complete. We anticipated a return to Trophy Hunting at Tenuta San Michele from August 2012, but in anticipation have some exciting news for those interested in assisting with a cull of the estates livestock.

The Estate has a significant population of Boar Fallow and Mouflon Sheep which need to be managed for their long-term welfare and we are delighted to invite hunters to assist with this during January and February 2012.
